The Lead Teacher is a warm, sensitive and mature individual who relates well to children and adults. The Lead Teacher is committed to Peartree's Early Childhood mission and environmental goals. The Lead Teacher is accountable for the general supervision and management of a class of 12 children ages 2-3 or a class of 15 children ages 3-4. In addition, the Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and executing the educational program in accordance with the objective of the preschool. The Lead Teacher reports directly to the Education Director who reports to the Executive Director of the preschool.

Responsibilities:

Principle Responsibilities:
Develop and implement the educational program for a class of 12 children ages 2-3 or a class of 15 children ages 3-4.
Tailor the program to the needs of each individual child while considering his or her interests, needs, physical or emotional challenges and family situation.
Plan and prepare the daily activities for assigned classes in coordination with the Education Director
Maintain progress records of each child's growth and development
Prepare periodic reports and Individual Development Plans, contingent upon review with supervisor and parents. Shares information as needed.
Work with parents to promote to understanding of their child's growth and development; encourage parent participation in school programs; attend parent group and preschool functions
Conduct regular formal and/or informal parent/teacher conferences on each child's school adjustment, classroom behavior, and developmental progress.
Effectively train, supervise, and utilize classroom assistants and primary floaters.
Supervise children; build children's self esteem; comfort children.
Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for all participants
Reports supplies needed to the Education Director
Attends mandatory staff meetings/trainings
Performs related duties as assigned, shares duties with others staff including changing, intervention in classroom issues (child /Teacher; Teacher/Teacher; Teacher/Parent; parent/child)

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's degree in related field with 15 credits in Early Childhood Education. At least three years teaching experience. Certified Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification, First Aid Certification. Must hold or be able to obtain a current FBI fingerprinting background card
