Ongoing Training/Professional Development
- Within 3 years of receiving an Initial certificate, teachers must qualify for the terminal-level “Professional certificate” by having satisfactory teaching experience, including a first year of mentored teaching, and an MA degree focused on what they teach.
- Holders of the Professional teaching certificate for classroom teaching must complete 175 hours of professional development every 5 years. This maintains the validity of the Professional certificate in good standing and allows the certificate holder to continue to teach.
- All Professional Development is done through NYC Department of Education
