Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education/Special Education

Ongoing Training/Professional Development

  • Written training plans are in place at individual child care centers.

Bachelor’s Degree

AND

NYS Teaching Certificate

Head Start/Early Head Start teachers also:

  • Plan/deliver Head Start Services in center and home-based settings
  • Carry out record keeping requirements
  • Need experience in a human services setting, including working with low-income children and families

Ongoing Training/Professional Development

  • Written training plans are in place at individual Head start centers.

NOTE:

  • Current and former Early Head Start and Head Start parents must receive preference for employment vacancies for which they are qualified.
  • Staff qualifications are for New York City Head Start programs and are required by the NYC Department of Health and exceed Federal Head Start staff.
