An immediate opportunity is available for an education generalist with special expertise in either STEM education (emphasis on science and working knowledge of Next Generation Science Standards) or early learning.’The selected Producer will be responsible for managing a variety of the Education Department’s initiatives, which will involve:

Responsibilities:

  • Executing outreach plans as described in production proposals;
  • Collaborating with partner organizations (such as afterschool programs, museums, and professional organizations), as well as local and national sites, to meet project deliverables;
  • Communicating outreach activities to internal staff at WNET;
  • Developing and producing educational events tied to WNET’s broadcast and online productions;
  • Supervising contract staff for specific educational projects;
  • Collaborating with the Interactive and Production departments to develop rich educational media and classroom resources for program web sites and PBS LearningMedia;    
  • Creating dynamic content and presentations to promote use of  WNET’s broadcast productions in formal and informal educational settings;
  • Presenting WNET’s educational tools to a variety of audiences in hands-on workshops, lectures, and demonstrations;
  • Reporting project progress and successes to funders.

Qualifications:

Qualified applicants should have three years of experience in education or related fields, as well as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  Special attention will be paid to applicants with proven experience in formal and/or informal educational settings, with a particular emphasis on STEM/science experience and/or early learning.

The successful candidate will have the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently.  In addition, strong writing and exceptional presentation/public speaking skills are essential.

Familiarity with HTML and CMS web publishing (i.e. Wordpress) and non-linear video editing platforms (i.e. Final Cut Pro) preferred. Some domestic travel and occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

Application Instructions:

Optional Skills
Candidates with proven experience in formal and/or informal educational settings, with a particular emphasis on STEM/science experience and/or early learning are preferred.
