Description:

The Early Childhood Center located at 184 Eldridge Street in the Lower East Side serve children from 2 years to 5 years using the "Dual Model" for serving Head Start and Child Care eligible children and their families. Following Head Start Performance Standards the program aims at providing comprehensive early childhood care and education including health, nutrition, mental health and school readiness curricula and measurements to address achievement gaps. Family services are fully integrated into each aspect of the program to ensure full participation from families. The Early Childhood Center is funded through an Early Learn award from NYC Administration for Children Services and Private Foundations.
 

Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Head Teacher, plan and complete assignments in support of daily classroom program and activities.

  • Assist Head Teacher in writing the daily and weekly lesson plans.
  • Ensure a proper level of availability and maintain classroom equipment and supplies.
  • Participate in recruiting parent volunteers and provide support to volunteers working in the classroom.
  • Provide assistance in writing required reports and completing various forms.
  • Assist with arranging field trips, home visits and in ordering supplies and materials.
  • Attend and participate in staff and parent meetings and in training and development sessions.
  • Perform other related duties as required by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Associates Degree or CDA required, Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Experience working with children
  • Bilingual English / Chinese
