Toddler Lead Teacher

~~The Toddler Teacher at the Kids’ Cottage Children’s Learning Center is a Suffolk Community College Association position and as such, salary and benefits for the position are determined according to the Association salary and benefits package. The Toddler Teacher reports to the Director of the Kids’ Cottage.

Responsibilities:

1.  Plan, supervise, and implement the Children’s Learning Center program in accordance with professional standards and the policies and philosophy of the Center under the supervision of the Director.
2. Structure the program to the needs, interests, special talents, individual styles and rates of learning of the individual children.
3. Coordinate the internship program with the Early Childhood advisor; participate in the training and evaluation of student teachers
4. Assist in the supervision and evaluation of the Assistant Teachers, and part-time teaching staff.
5. Maintain the appearance and learning environment of the classroom.
6. Assist the Director in describing the program to visitors and parents and with public relations events sponsored by the Center.
7. Maintain a positive liaison with the parents of the children.
8. Monitor conditions to ensure the children’s safety at all times; acquaint children with safety rules.
9. Monitor the daily attendance of the children, including individual arrival and departure times.
10. Assist children with age-appropriate personal needs as necessary.
11. Monitor the daily CACFP meal count and monthly report.
12. Attend staff meetings and training programs, conferences and courses related to the young child as required for licensing regulations, NAEYC Accreditation, QualitystarsNY and professional development.
13. Work flexible hours according to the staffing needs of Children’s Learning Center.
14. Assume responsibility for opening and / or closing  the facility as needed.
