Description:

We are currently seeking a Full Time Head Teacher, who will be working with a three year old classroom during a 12 month school year; you will play an important role in providing a fun, educational and safe environment for the students. Under the direction of the Early Childhood Director, the Teacher will be responsible for assisting with the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and addressing the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of the individual students in his/her care.  The Teacher will provide a child-centered responsive educational environment which encourages learning through exploration and discovery and promotes the development of a positive self-image. Curriculum and activities must be consistent with NYC DOHMH, NYC DOE, ACS, CSBA and St Nick’s Alliance. 

Responsibilities:

1.  Planning and implementing of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports and stimulates each child’s individual development using working experience, education, and community resources.

2.  Ensuring the supervision of children at all times.

3.  Providing support to classroom staff concerning appropriate early childhood practices on an informal, formal, and ongoing basis.

4.  Working with parents to promote understanding of growth and development of their child.  Effectively communicate with parents, verbally, and in writing, throughout the session/year.

5.  Maintaining a clean and safe classroom environment; providing daily health checks, incident or behavior reports.

6. Continually keep students active and engaged in fun and challenging activities.

7. Interact with children, parents/guardians and co-workers in a professional manner at all times.

8. Understand and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for all classrooms.

9. Teacher should have at least 2 years of Early Childhood classroom experience in any capacity.

10. Create and implement stimulating lesson plans promoting exploration, creativity, and discovery following the Best practices using Creative curriculum and/or DOE Units of Study. Adhere to all CSBA and governmental requirements regarding Performance Standards and safety including: fire drills, trips, gross motor activities and daily schedule.

11. Observe, record student’s progress, actions & behaviors in student authentic assessment system (TSG). Prepare notes regarding child’s growth for meetings with families twice a year.

12. Attend and participate in all quarterly staff professional development.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements 

Bachelors in Early Childhood Education

Preferred Requirements:

Masters in Early Childhood Education or enrolled in a Masters Degree program

NYS Teacher Certification in Early Childhood Birth-2nd Grade

Bilingual in Spanish, Polish, Tibetan, French, Italian
