Morningside PlayCare, Inc. is an exciting new early childhood Mandarin language immersion program opening in Morningside Heights. Our program will operate Monday through Friday and serve children ages infant to 5 years. Morningside PlayCare values child-centered approaches in which children learn and develop through play, exploration of their environment, and discovery. Morningside PlayCare is a small program, located in a residential setting 3 blocks from Teachers College.
Infant Care Provider – Be responsible for the care of 2 infants in an early childhood program setting. Work as part of a team to share responsibility for care of toddlers. This is a position for someone who loves infant care and is by temperament gentle, nurturing, engaging, and patient. You will be required to communicate well with parents in English and speak to and play with infants and young children in Mandarin. Requirements: Two years experience with infants (may be your own), and college degree or coursework.

Early Childhood Mandarin Teacher – Work closely and collaboratively with the Executive Director to launch and grow this new program. Is responsible for developing emergent curriculum inspired by the children’s interests, partnering with parents to help guide children’s growth and development, and helping to create a culture of exploration, respect for nature, and creative play. All these responsibilities are carried out, while playing and communicating in Mandarin with children who are native speakers of other languages. This teacher provides direct supervision to the Teaching Assistants, Interns, and Infant Care Provider, and reports directly to the Executive Director. Requirements: Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) and coursework in Early Childhood Education, Linguistics, or TCSOL. You must also be a Native Mandarin speaker, have or qualify for teaching certification, have Early Childhood experience, value child-centered approaches, and have leadership skills.
Assistant Teacher or Intern - Work closely with a team of childcare professionals. Be enthusiastic about making a difference in young children’s lives and building a model program. Be committed to your own career development and professional growth. Help design and lead developmentally appropriate music, art, dance, nature and play activities inspired by the children, which lead to learning and growth. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree; Native Mandarin speaker; Early Childhood experience or coursework.
