Floating Teacher Assistant

Description:

Hanson Place Child Development Center, Inc. (HPCDC) is looking for two experienced Floating Teacher Assistants who will assist with implementing developmentally appropriate child-centered curriculum that encourages learning through investigation and discovery and promotes the development of a positive self-image. The Floating Teacher Assistants will model positive social interactions and language, as well as implement positive class supervision practices and strategies that are consistent with guidelines put forth by the NYC Department of Health/Bureau of Day Care and align with the mission and values of HPCDC.

Responsibilities:

• Providing diligent supervision in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the children in the program
• Assisting classroom teaching staff with creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons and activities
• Maintaining a clean, safe classroom environment by reporting and/or removing all potential hazards, as well as setting up spaces and materials with a focus on supporting children's learning
• Preparing children's food and maintaining a family-style setting for eating that is conducive to language, cognitive, and social development
• Assisting classroom teaching staff with maintaining accurate program documentation (i.e., sign-in/sign-out sheets, attendance sheets, incident/accident report forms, etc.)
• Actively participating in all training sessions, designated meetings, and special events
