Administrative/Human Resources Intern (Unpaid/for school credit)

Bedford Stuyvesant Early Childhood Development Center, Inc. (“BSECDC”) is a non-profit organization that uses a holistic approach to fulfill its mission of providing free, high quality, comprehensive educational and social services, including, but not limited to, nutritional, physical, emotional, psychological, and social, to low income preschool children, ages 3 – 5 and their families.  Our goal is to provide our preschool scholars and their families with a love of lifelong learning and with the multi-disciplinarian foundation needed to succeed in college and in their careers.  We approach our service from a holistic perspective by looking at the needs and strengths of the whole child, the whole family and the whole community.

We are seeking a motivated Administrative/Human Resources Intern (unpaid/for school credit) for our Administrative Human Resources Department.  In this position, the intern will assist the department with a diverse set of roles that will help to build their expertise and provide hand-on experience in the various aspects of the Administrative Human Resources Department.   

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

  • HR Administrative tasks such as filing, copying and scanning of documents
  • Review resumes and selecting applicants for senior management interaction
  • Communicating with potential hires regarding scheduling interviews, onboarding new hires and communicating appropriate processes
  • Benefits Administration support such as creating packets for new hire orientation
  • Assistance with upkeep of employees files and records
  • Attend monthly Board Meeting and transcribe minutes
  • Assist with special projects as needed

Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • Working towards a degree in Human Resources of related field
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work best in a childcare setting
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization
