Description:

The NYC Early Childhood Professional Development Institute is a dynamic public/private partnership comprised of several initiatives that work to ensure access to professional development for all early childhood practitioners. QUALITYstarsNY, New York State’s quality rating and improvement system, is designed to assess, improve and communicate the quality of care in all types of early learning settings.

The Institute seeks 3 temporary Rating Reviewers to work part-time (up to 19 hours per week) with QUALITYstarsNY. The position is an opportunity to gain familiarity with and contribute to QUALITYstarsNY's statewide effort to provide the best possible early learning experiences to young children and their families.

Following an initial training period, Rating Reviewers provide key support during the rating process by reviewing submitted documentation and assessing its quality on the basis of specific criteria. Rating Reviewers report to the Rating Manager and collaborate with other QUALITYstarsNY staff as needed.

Ratings awarded serve as the basis for future program quality improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Document review
• Program assessment on the basis of QUALITYstarsNY standards
• Data entry
• Coordination of efforts across multiple data systems
• Discussion and clear communication of rating rubric areas in need of clarification
