Group Teacher

Description:

The YWCA of the City of New York-Brownsville Early Learning Center is seeking an enthusiastic and caring Certified Group Teacher to enhance the educational and social-emotional well-being of children ages 2 and 3.  

Responsibilities:

• The Certified Group Teacher has the responsibilities of the overall operations of the classroom--including weekly lesson planning, maintaining a healthy and safe environment, and engaging in developmentally appropriate practices that support STEM.  
• The Certified Group Teacher will work with an Assistant Teacher and Teacher's Aide in the classroom to enhance best practices.
• The Certified Group Teacher will adequately supervise all children, schedule and facilitate parent-teacher conferences, and maintain accurate and timely educational records of the children in his/her care.
• The Certified Group Teacher will implement and execute the Creative Curriculum, adhere to Head Start Performance Standards & Regulations, comply with Article 47 Regulations of the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, and cooperate with the Administration for Children's Services recommendations.
• The Certified Group Teacher will enter child observations (based on individual child strengths) twice per month for each child in his or her care and utilize Teaching Strategies GOLD Objectives for Development & Learning to monitor and analyze children's growth and development throughout the program year.
• The Certified Group Teacher will complete child assessments 3 times per program year based on Teaching Strategies GOLD Objectives for Development & Learning.
• The Certified Group Teacher will make two home visits per program year with the assistance/support of the Family Services Team in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards & Regulations.
• The Certified Group Teacher will ensure that the classroom is a warm and welcoming environment that is structured for optimizing children's growth and development.
• The Certified Group Teacher must be a lifelong learner.
• The Certified Group Teacher will report directly to the Education Director.
