New York City Licensing Information
- A New York City license is necessary when applying for employment in any NYC public school position.
- You cannot receive a NYC License if you do not have New York State Teacher Certification.
How Do I Apply?
- Pick up an Application for Pedagogical License packet at the NYC Department of Education, located at 65 Court Street, Brooklyn, NY
- Follow the instructions in your packet.
- Fill out all the forms, including the Child Support document, which must be notarized.
- Return your completed forms to the Department of Education at the above address.

- Call the Department of Education's "HR Connect" Human Resources hotline:
- (718) 935-4000 (Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m)
- You will be connected to an operator who can answer your questions about obtaining a NYC teaching license
