Who is eligible?
Excellence in Teaching Recognition Awards of $1,000 will be awarded to fully credentialed, head teachers of early childhood classrooms (Infant - Age 5).
Such teachers will:- Possess a reflective, inquiring disposition
- Create a safe climate for learning. Such a classroom would be inclusive, infused with hope, and provide for calculated risk-taking
- Help students develop the social-emotional skills that are the foundation for a readiness to learn
- Connect their understanding of developmental theory and the individual students in their classroom to make intelligent choices about curriculum and depth of study
- Plan meaningful, authentic experiences that meet the needs of individual students and the group, while fostering curiosity, creativity and analysis
- Demonstrate the capacity to understand all children, even those with experiences, perceptions, and knowledge bases different from their own
- Contribute in significant ways to the school community.
