Recognized Teacher Responsibilities

Teachers granted the Excellence in Teaching Recognition Award will be asked to assume the following responsibilities in order to inspire others:

  • Agree to a videotaped interview that will be made accessible on NYC Early Childhood Professional Development Institute's (NYC PDI) website (finalists will also be interviewed).
  • Work with PDI staff to identify and share evidence that exemplifies the work they do with children. This might include a learning station, a lesson, a material, or a glimpse of their classroom environment.
  • Each teacher's profile will be highlighted on NYC PDI's website for one month. During that month, viewers will have the opportunity to post their thoughts in response to the teacher's work. The teacher will be asked to respond to viewer comments on a weekly basis for one month.
  • The teacher will be asked to share a list of favorite resources or materials that they have felt inspired by or have found helpful in their work. This list will be posted with their profile on PDI's website.
