Description:

Brookville Center is approved by the New York State Education Department and the Department of Health to provide educational and therapeutic services to children with developmental delays or disabilities. Brookville Center operates at five separate locations-Marcus Ave. at New Hyde Park, SUNY Old Westbury, Barbara C. Wilson, Post Ave at Westbury Friends and our locations at Brookville's AHRC campus.

Our Mission:

Our mission is to provide comprehensive services to children with an emphasis on assisting families in understanding their child's strengths and areas of need.

Responsibilities:

* Assist the assigned teacher as requested in all areas of the daily classroom routine

* Assist the children as requested by the teacher; maintain health and safety of the classroom environment by performing assigned tasks

* May be required to attend evening meetings

* Prepare classroom materials as requested by teacher

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED and college credits in early childhood are required

* NYS Teacher Assistant Certification-(ATAS) within six months of hire date

* State Central Registry Clearance; Workshop-School Violence Intervention and Prevention

* Good communication skills and a demonstrated willingness and aptitude working for individuals with intellectual and other disabilities
