Responsibilities:

Job Description:

  • Meet the needs of all children.
  • The Lead Teacher Individualizes one-to-one and group activities to reflect the unique needs and strengths of all children in the classroom.
  • Prepares & follow-through daily activities (indoor/outdoor) as they relate to the curriculum.
  • Provide monthly assessment of children's development.
  • Encourage experimentation, exploration, problem solving, cooperation, socialization, and choice making; ask open-ended questions and listen respectfully to the answers.
  • Provide an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom.
  • Supervise and monitor children at all times, just to name a few.
  • Greets each child in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Provides a warm, safe and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean & appealing. The environment should allow the child to grow & to explore.
  • Prepares monthly plan lesson plans.
  • Plans and implements of lessons (indoor/outdoor) in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy.
  • Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child.
  • Read each individual child’s files in your classroom and be knowledgeable about their medical and development histories.
  • Provide direct care and education of the children.
  • Assist in the completion of monthly assessments of children’s development.
  • Maintains good communication with parents on a daily basis through the use of notes, daily sheets or verbally.
  • Work with other staff members to form a positive, supportive teaching atmosphere.
  • Must work the days and hours to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks, be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines.
  • Ensure the safety of the children on a daily basis by providing supervision and direction
  • Teachers keep records on the children and assess their skills monthly.
  • Perform Precious Lambs procedures for sanitizing and cleaning children’s toys and equipment.
  • Performs additional program duties as assigned by the Director according to Center’s needs
  • Carries out the vision, philosophy and missions of Precious Lambs, Inc. Early Childhood and Child Care Center in reaching each child’s educational goals. 
  • Maintain proper attendance.
  • Maintain Incident Reports.
  • Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials.
  • Maintain staff to children ratio.
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations.
  • Performs additional program duties as assigned by the Director according to Center needs.

Periodic Duties

  1. Attends all Early Childhood staff meetings (Exact meeting dates and times TBA).
  2. Attends all supervisory meetings, team planning meetings and curriculum meetings scheduled by the Early Childhood Director/Assistant Director.
  3. Attends the Early Childhood Orientation and set-up week prior to the start of school and the clean-up week following the last day of school.
  4. Maintains all required reports pertaining to the class and/or individual
  5. children. This includes progress reports twice annually in January & May.
  6. Attends workshops, conferences, & any in-service training sponsored by Precious Lambs &/or other educational organizations, as approved and instructed by Precious Lambs Director/Assistant Director.
  7. Attends and assists with the Preschool Graduation.

Qualifications:

Minimum Position Requirements

  1. Ability to effectively interact and relate to children in a developmentally appropriate manner.
  2. Must be sensitive to individual children’s differences and needs, and be willing to adjust the program & curriculum to meet those individual needs.
  3. Must be motivated to learn and grow in an educational environment; and be willing to continually increase knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.
  4. Must be able to relate with and speak to parents in a respectful and courteous manner.
  5. Must be willing to work in a team environment; be willing to share ideas & be open to other’s ideas; be flexible & willing to compromise.

Special Requirements and Physical Demands:

  1. Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed, to lift children (up to 35 lbs.), including bending, stooping, stretching, squatting, pushing and pulling, and sitting and walking.
  2. Noise level can be moderate to loud.

Responsible for maintaining positive, courteous and professional relationships with the following:

  1. Children in the Early Childhood Program.
  2. Families of the children enrolled in the program
  3. All Early Childhood Staff including other teachers, administrative staff & Director.
  4. All Precious Lambs Staff.
  5. Professional staff from other related agencies.
  6. The greater community.
