Description:
GENERAL DUTIES: Responsible for the planning, organizing, and carrying out developmental programs for a particular age group.
DAILY DUTIES:
- Classroom management
- Responsible for creating a warm and accepting environment
- Responsible for greeting each child in the group
- Responsible for the health, safety, and welfare of the children in their group
- Responsible for all mealtime activities of the group. This includes helping with their table manners and handling utensils
- Carrying out housekeeping standards, cleaning daily
- Responsible for carrying out all procedures for emergencies and fire drills
- Ensuring that parents picking up their children are informed of their child’s daily activities (positive ones)
- Responsible for daily attendance reports, health, and wellness as they come into school
- Responsible for training and constructive utilization of assistant teachers
- Daily preparation of program materials; requisition of supplies needed.
- Making teaching materials to fit the program's needs.
- Recording of each child’s progress
- Accepting each child as he is
- Recognizing that each child is a sensitive, thinking individual and treating him accordingly.
- Understanding the process of child development and relating that understanding to teaching.
- Using different, though consistent, methods in dealing with children.
- Using imagination and creativity
- Remaining controlled in startling or difficult situations
- Encouraging and guiding their expression of feelings and being a good listener
- Assisting children in gaining confidence
- Have the ability to remove distracting influences
- Assisting parents with their child’s emotional and physical transition from home to school and from school to home
- Partake in both indoor and outdoor free play time
- Prepare educational materials that are necessary to carry out the daily plan
- Responsible for getting the children involved with the materials
- Foster children’s curiosity and develop problem-solving skills around events that are a normal part of everyday life in the center and at home
- Help build a positive self-image, by not making value judgments and allowing the children to express their feelings – whatever they are.
- Responsible for celebrating and discussing all holidays

Qualifications:
The minimum requirement is a CDA in Infant/Toddler/Preschool education.
BA in Education or Associate in Early Childhood or Degree in Early Childhood related field would be great.
We do not follow a school calendar.
Minimum Education Level: CDA Credential
Preferred Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
